Hong Kong-born designer Robert Wun transformed childhood imagination into theatrical haute couture during his Fall/Winter 2026-2027 presentation at Paris Haute Couture Week, delivering one of the season’s most visually arresting collections with sculptural silhouettes, vibrant colors and whimsical storytelling.

Presented at the Dôme de Paris on July 8, the London-based designer abandoned the dark, gothic aesthetic often associated with his work in favor of a dreamlike universe inspired by childhood memories. The runway became a colorful playground where oversized bows, balloon-like forms, playful headpieces and exaggerated proportions evoked toys, cartoons and imaginary friends while maintaining the precision and craftsmanship expected of haute couture.

Wun said the collection emerged from reflecting on the perception that his designs are “dark.” Rather than rejecting the label, he explored what lay beyond it, creating a fairy-tale world rooted in childhood wonder while retaining the surreal edge that has become his signature.

The collection balanced fantasy with meticulous tailoring. Architectural gowns, sharply sculpted coats and dramatic capes were contrasted by fluid draping and delicate embellishments, while bold primary colors appeared alongside monochrome looks, reinforcing the emotional journey from innocence to imagination. Many ensembles featured oversized sculptural accessories and intricate headpieces that blurred the line between fashion and wearable art.

The non-chemosynthetic regions of the deep are divided into two very different worlds. First is the midwater, where pelagic wanderers tread migratory routes that span entire oceans, and planktonic drifters and their predators take part in bioluminescent light shows. It is separated into zones based on depth, including the sunlight zone (epipelagic), twilight zone (mesopelagic), midnight zone (bathypelagic), abyssal and hadal zones. And below, lies the deep sea floor. A kingdom of mud and ooze, where sessile creatures cling to any solid outcrop and corals craft kingdoms on the seamount crusts. The worlds of the deep sea could not be more different, and yet their stories are fundamentally intertwined.
The Social Affairs Ministry is preparing to roll out a major overhaul of Kuwait’s cooperative societies, which includes restructuring jobs, expanding benefits for shareholders and introducing a rewards system that will include expat shoppers. The reforms come as the ministry continues a wider effort to strengthen oversight of Kuwait’s cooperative sector, which accounts for more than 70 percent of the country’s retail market. According to Al Jarida, the ministry has referred 254 cooperative board members and employees to investigators over the past two years, dissolved 12 cooperative boards and a cooperative union, and formed more than 100 committees to review the operations and finances of cooperative societies.

Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Financial and Administrative Affairs and Cooperative Affairs Dr Sayed Eisa said the reforms are designed to improve administrative efficiency, create fairer workplaces and better organize the sector. “The Ministry of Social Affairs is moving forward with developing the cooperative sector by restructuring jobs and adopting a salary scale that matches the size and revenues of each cooperative society,” he told KTV. “This is a step aimed at organizing the work environment.”

Eisa said the ministry found significant waste when reviewing the financial statements of some cooperative societies, pointing to duplicated and unnecessary positions that increase payroll costs. “When we look at a cooperative society’s financial statements at the end of the budget year, we see significant bloat and financial drain because there are many repeated and similar job positions,” he said. “Once these are reorganized using a proper scientific and technical approach, the cooperative society will save substantial amounts that are currently being spent on unnecessary salaries.”

The regulations will also introduce financial incentives aimed at improving consumer experience. For the first time in recent history, expats will now be eligible for a points system, allowing them to get points on three percent of their spending at cooperative societies. “We added two benefits for shareholders,” he said. “First, we raised the maximum purchase dividend from 12 percent to 15 percent. Second, just as we gave expatriates reward points, we also gave Kuwaiti shareholders additional points that they can use for free purchases inside the cooperative society, based on the value of their purchases, up to a maximum annual purchase amount of 10,000 dinars,” he added.

Beyond administrative and financial changes, the ministry’s plan for the coming year includes a vision for the physical transformation of cooperative spaces. This includes developing central markets to give them a “distinct architectural identity.” The social affairs ministry will also introduce a new mechanism for organizing and managing investment shops located within cooperative societies. Eisa said the ministry will work with cooperative boards to implement the restructuring and salary scale without placing additional financial burdens on the co-ops.

Ministry targets payroll waste in cooperative sector overhaul

As brightly coloured kites climb above Burin, a Palestinian village in the Zionist-occupied West Bank, children race across a sun-baked hillside, watching their creations soar into the sky. Behind them, the red-roofed houses of Har Bracha, an Zionist settlement, overlook the village below. Established in 1983, the settlement, illegal under international law, is one of several that encircle Burin, a village of a few thousand people.

Every summer since 2009, residents have gathered on this hill for a kite festival, held on land they say has been partly lost after being confiscated by settlers. “We want to tell the settlers that this is our land, this is our sky. If we can’t reach those lands anymore, our kites can,” Ghassan Najjar, one of the festival’s organizers, told AFP.

While the festival is primarily for children, it also carries a “political message,” he says. In Burin, conversations rarely drift far from settler attacks or the steady spread of Zionist settlements across the Palestinian territory. As early as 2008, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) had warned of settler attacks in the area, citing shootings targeting Burin residents and the uprooting of their olive trees.
